With resolution No. XI/999 of February 25, 2020, the Regional Council approved the 2020-2023 Four-Year Regional Plan for Equality, Prevention and Fight against Gender-based Violence which provides for a system of integrated and coordinated actions aimed at preventing and combating violence against women in all its forms, including domestic violence and violence in the workplace.
The Plan also aims at promoting a culture of equal opportunities based on the recognition and protection of women's fundamental rights in every aspect of their economic, social and family life.
The objective of the Lombardy Region is to create a structured system of prevention and fight against violence, through the identification of actions aimed at:
- consolidating the existing local anti-violence services throughout the Lombardy Region, involving new subjects;
- strengthening and upgrading the structures and specialized services for the reception and protection of women victims of violence in order to guarantee a homogeneous and continuous offer of specialized services all over the region;
- promoting and ensuring adequate policies for the prevention of violence against women.
The Plan also extends the scope of intervention to issues and targets that until now have not been treated or only marginally treated, such as women victims of violence belonging to disadvantaged or particularly fragile categories, maltreated men, children who are victims of violence and/or witnesses of domestic violence and orphans of femicide.
